Agreed. When I first started reading RTL (May 97?), I would read
virtually each and every post. And I enjoyed doing so. Now I skip
the majority of it, only occasionally parsing a thread to see what
it's about. Often, as in the case of the Mindstorms thread, the
content is very.... discouraging, to put it nicely.

Hard to say. There are still a lot of old-timers there, but the
civility level has dropped appreciably. I don't believe that "being
antsy" is a factor. I don't recall RTL being this way last year at
this time. I have just assumed that the situation has been brought on
(or in) by the influx of new people. And some of those people have
carried over their behaviors from other groups. And it seems that the
peer pressure to conform has dropped as well, with less polite
admonishments to the transgressors. Perhaps from frustration?

I am not uncomfortable, but I am a getting a little annoyed and bored.
Which is pretty bad in itself.
I used to think RTL was a fun and safe place, and could recommend it
without reservation. But now I would have to think twice about that.
Why? Because new people inevitably ask newbie questions. At one
time, those questions would be kindly answered. Now, more often than
not, they get flamed. Not the best thing for someone looking for
friendship online.
