Lego Halloween Costume Ideas...

Hi everyone,

I was wondering if anyone had any ideas for a Lego Halloween costume.  So far,
I've been able to find one example of a simple brick costume.  Take a
cardboard box, cut out some body holes, stick some small cups on the front,
paint the box, and voila...you're a Lego brick.  I found that idea at the
Disney site [1].  There's also another photo of a similar child's costume on
the web [2].

I had hoped someone would have an idea about dressing up as a minifig.  I'm
assuming it would be relatively easy to take some boxes, cut and tape them to
be the right dimensions, and paint them to look like a Lego person.  I'm not
quite sure how to do the round, yellow head, but I'm working on it.  My
girlfriend suggested the more interperative approach of wearing one color
pants, another color shirt, and somehow indicating I was a Lego minifig.
Although this would give me much greater mobility, I'm hoping to find a way
that looks more Legoish.

Another idea I had was about an accessory I could carry.  If I get yellow
mittens, they would be similar to a minifig.  I then could carry some sort of
accessory, depending on what type minifig I am.  A paper towel tube with some
extra work added has many possibilites (wrench, brush,...).  You could also
take a small box and create a walkie-talkie.

Well, those are my thoughts.  If anyone has any suggestions, either email me
or post them here for the benefit of everyone.

Thanks,
Steven

(...) I suggest that you carry a minifig that looks like your costume. That way, when someone says "what the heck are you?" you can show the minifig to them for a comparison. :) Ben Roller (25 years ago, 11-Oct-99, to lugnet.general)

There have been examples of minifig costumes in Lego Mania Magazine, usually characters hanging around with various contest winners. Also, I believe it was Minx Kelly who had a unique Lego costume--I seem to remember it involved cutting two (...) (25 years ago, 11-Oct-99, to lugnet.general)
