To the best of my knowledge, the orange Lego first came out in 1998 in the
Halloween buckets, which were a Target exclusive:

Ahh, that would explain it. There is only one target here, and
I've only been in it maybe four times in the last 5 years.

Then this year, orange parts have come out in several Star Wars sets like
the 7130 Snow Speeder (http://www.lugnet.com/pause/search/?query=7130-1) and
the 7171 Mos Espa Podrace (http://www.lugnet.com/pause/search/?query=7171
oops, no picture there...oh well).

Yup, I knew about the star wars sets and plates and etc. The sets in
question contain very few orange elements, and the model I was looking
at had hundreds of orange bricks! A prohibative cost, if you were getting
the 2-5 pieces in a 85-100 dollar mos-espa set.

I don't suppose anyone out there has a few orange bricks they are willing
to part with  =)  or better yet, a place where I can go buy a ton of them...
