While we've known about the early Technic (gears) sets, Don Heyse just
uploaded
some scans of <a href=http://www.kl.net/scans/0000/0812/>0812</a> that
show a red universal joint!

(...) Yeah, I had some of those in my childhood. I also remember the red bushings and the white axles. The gears were cool: They could be used both as normal gears and as crown gears. They may look old, but they were still very well designed. (...) (25 years ago, 20-Aug-99, to lugnet.general)

Thanks for pointing out the picture. I've been looking for a close up of that part. I believe that set 803 was the only other set with these original universal joints, but they were grey in that set. If anyone has sets 800-803, 812, or 813 MISB (or (...) (25 years ago, 20-Aug-99, to lugnet.general)
