H'llo,
I'm sure people know plenty of Lego jargon that would make a normal person
give you an odd look if they heard you say it. All I'm wondering here is
who was the person/people to coin some of the terms like BURP, minifig,
CRAPP, etc..

According to my records...

*  "BURP" was first used by Mark Hornblower <wombat@hookup.net> in a post to
   rec.toys.lego on May 28, 1995.

*  "CRAPP" was first used by Eric Pilcher <rasta@peak.org> in a post to
   rec.toys.lego on June 11, 1995.

*  "TLG" was first used by Joshua Delahunty <dulcaoin@cats.ucsc.edu> in a
   post to rec.toys.lego on January 16, 1995.

*  "AFOL" was first used by Matthew Verdier <matthewv@digital.net> in a post
   to rec.toys.lego on June 14, 1995.  http://www.lugnet.com/general/?n=2940

*  "MOC" _may_ first have appeared as part of the "LEGO Geek Code" created
by Derek Schin and others, but I'm not sure whether that is truly its
   origin.

*  I'm not sure when "minifig" was first used, but it goes back at least as
   far as January of 1994.

*  I believe "NLF," "NLS," and "NLSO" go way back to the alt.toys.lego days.

*  "S@H" definitely goes back to 1993.

Hi Todd, I looked at (URL) glad you posted it. I've always wondered what some of those acronyms meant. I also think it's interesting how the following has kind-of strayed in the lcad newsgroups: (...) When I see MOC in lcad now-a-days I always think (...) (25 years ago, 10-Aug-99, to lugnet.general)

(...) Eww. How unfortunate that there's reason to place my name in a list next to one of the only two RLT'ers to ever rip me off. :-( -- joshua (25 years ago, 15-Aug-99, to lugnet.general)
