If it's anything like like the "hydraulic" cylinder in the 8445 Indy Storm,
it isn't hydraulic at all. It's a pneumatic thing, although unlike the other
pneumatic stuff, it doesn't connect via tubes to anything else. It's
basically a sealed air chamber attached to a spring-loaded shock-absorber.
This gives a smoother motion than the old shocks would. It's actually pretty
cool -- just not hydraulic at all.
Actually, for $40, the Indy Storm is a pretty decent technic set. And it's
got loads of length-5 crossaxles.
