Hello, I work for an event planning company in Philadelphia and we are in need of an expert Lego artist for an event in Orlando on February 25-28. We are looking for someone to construct either a 6'x4'x2' bridge or a giant seashell (approximately (...)   Re: Has Lego begun producing "war toys"?

(...) If I recall, TLG renounced the "we do not make weapons" philisophy a few years ago, or something to that effect (most notably, prior to the Batman sets). There's a TLG press release about it somewhere (don't have time to find it right now). As (...) (17 years ago, 24-Jan-08, to lugnet.general)

Re: Has Lego begun producing "war toys"?

(...) I agree that it seems like there is no diference, but I think that most parents would say that their is a difference between kids playing cowboys or pirates, and kids playing war. I personally have nothing against kids playing war. I played (...) (17 years ago, 24-Jan-08, to lugnet.general)

  Pets and Lego

My cat has been right into the lego blocks lately and not in a good way. He jumps into various sort boxes and rumages around eventually he scopes some out and throws them all over the place. You can often find him hiding somewhere chewing on them. I (...) (17 years ago, 24-Jan-08, to lugnet.general)

  AFOL History Project

At the behest of CSF members I have sought to create a repository of events in which I had a few minutes to burn tonight and so I whipped up something quickly.   Re: Has Lego begun producing "war toys"?

(...) What's the difference in modern weapons versus black powder rifles, pistols, and cannons (even some cannons had spring loaded firing mechanisms) anyway? If you open the door just a little bit, you still opened it. That's like saying you don't (...) (17 years ago, 24-Jan-08, to lugnet.general)

Re: Has Lego begun producing "war toys"?

In 1953 TLG came out with an early slotted brick 4 page idea brochure. On page 4 of that brochure it shows a LEGO fortified structure with non-LEGO army men. (Dave Shifflett's website): (URL) was the only occurrence that I'm aware of... of LEGO (...) (17 years ago, 24-Jan-08, to lugnet.general)

Re: Has Lego begun producing "war toys"?

(...) Lego actually produced a plastic, full size gun in the late 50s or early 60s. Also there were lighters with the Lego logo on it back then. I too, do not like the idea of weapons in Lego sets, they took a no violence for many years. There were (...) (17 years ago, 24-Jan-08, to lugnet.general)

Re: Has Lego begun producing "war toys"?

(...) I would say I'm torn as well. I like the idea of the "Agents" series, but would be against any kind of military-theme set. My main issue right now is the inclusion of weapons that actually fire in sets (Exo-Force and Star Wars mainly). To me (...) (17 years ago, 24-Jan-08, to lugnet.general)

Has Lego begun producing "war toys"?

I am curious to hear folks opinions on this one. I happened across a pics in brickshelf showing the boxes for new sets for 2008. It is my understanding that we do not allow links to leaks, so you will have to find it yourself. Long and short, for (...) (17 years ago, 23-Jan-08, to lugnet.general)

After 45 years... the LEGO Gnome reappears on LEGO Boxes!

This is a reprint of a Bricklink thread... Starting around 1954, TLG had a mascot for LEGO boxes and catalogs, that we refer to today as the LEGO GNOME. This little character was used on all LEGO box tops and in catalogs until 1960. The last known (...) (17 years ago, 23-Jan-08, to lugnet.general) !

Who sells Custom Made LEGO Stickers?

I lost my PCs favorite pages... so I cannot find the link to that fellow who sells reproductions of old LEGO stickers on his website. Can anyone help? I tried Googling for it, but came up empty. Thanks, Gary Istok (17 years ago, 23-Jan-08, to lugnet.general)

You can bring you MOCs, you can build MOCs at the show, or just jump in on the mass builds. www,brickmuseum.net dan Never tried to fly with MOCs, usually we bring glued models so packing is very easy...but we (...)   New 1 x 2 x 2/3 slope in 2008?

Looks like a new slope available mid-year 2008. The grill/bumpers on the (I think it is supposed to be a) truck and the little car (URL) Not that I have done anything lately with lego, but maybe by July I'll be out of my funk. Jonathan (17 years ago, 18-Jan-08, to lugnet.inv, lugnet.general)

Re: Getting your MOC's to shows?

(...) Dave- We've been hauling LEGO around since 1995, first for contests, then commissions, and later for small events around town. In 2001 we started doing LTC shows and in 2004 we started attending BFs. Initially we carried fully assembled MOCs (...) (17 years ago, 17-Jan-08, to lugnet.general)
