Any LUG in the Albuquerque area?

Seems like it's been a while since anyone posted to the NM section, but a good friend of mine is a designer/writer for the Albuquerque Journal and asked if there was a Lego Club in the ABQ area. If you're there and interested, please email me at (...) (20 years ago, 16-Mar-05, to lugnet.loc.us.nm, lugnet.general)

"Jake McKee" <sink@countersinkdg.com> wrote in message news:IDGJJE.1or5@lugnet.com... (...) Kinda like Prince, that became the unpronounceable symbol (the artist formerly known as Prince), and then Prince again? Rob www.brickmodder.net (20 years ago, 16-Mar-05, to lugnet.general)

Re: "The LEGO Group" or "The LEGO Company"?

(...) You'd think :) Actually, the background comes down to legal and tax issues. As I understand each country office/branch is a separate "company". So in Billund, it's LEGO A/S. In Enfield, it's LEGO Systems, Inc., etc. I don't know the specifics (...) (20 years ago, 16-Mar-05, to lugnet.general, FTX)

Re: "The LEGO Group" or "The LEGO Company"?

To add to the confusion... I emailed Lego through the form on their web site, and asked: "What is the difference, exactly, between The LEGO Group and The LEGO Company? Would you please give me a specific definition of what each term refers to?" The (...) (20 years ago, 16-Mar-05, to lugnet.general, FTX)

Re: 4421 box (and other 2005 boxes)

(...) The 500pc box 4780 is Eur 9.99 in Dublin so could save 1 c. by getting 2 of these instead of a 4221 it's hard to make out the brick size distribution, but there are fewer colours in the smaller set... Ronan (20 years ago, 16-Mar-05, to lugnet.general, lugnet.market.shopping)

4421 box (and other 2005 boxes)

How are the new cardboard boxes being priced around the globe? There's little information about these "packs" anywhere. They are in www.legoideas.com but not in shop.lego.com yet (mar 16 05) I saw 4421 (1000 bricks) on a shelf in Dublin @ 19.99 euro (...) (...) Looking forward to that podcast! I've gotten totally hooked on the concept of podcasts, so a LEGO-related one would be terrific! Jake --- Jake McKee Webmaster - BIP (URL) (20 years ago, 16-Mar-05, to lugnet.general)

  3 Mocs and Goodbye

If you haven't been following (URL) and (URL) CSF>, then here's my big news: I'm leaving. Two years I'll be away from home in the fabulously dusty and tornadoey state of Oklahoma working as a missionary for my church. You can read more about this (...)   Re: Why are slope bricks textured?

(...) Definitely so! The earlier slopes had a texture that resembled overlapping circles, while the later texture is more evenly distributed teeny-weeny bumps. I can always tell if it's an old slope piece because of the funky circle pattern. Dave (20 years ago, 14-Mar-05, to lugnet.general, lugnet.parts)

  Re: No Lego Window System

(...) Hmm, that still wouldn't work. A 1x4 arch built under the peak of a roof would be way to heavy. Frank (20 years ago, 14-Mar-05, to lugnet.general)

  Re: No Lego Window System

(...) Oh sure, use logic against me. My one weakness! It's a pretty tight squeeze-- the corners might indeed stick out of the roof if left as a normal 1x6x2 arch... I guess I'd probably just fudge a little and bring the window down a bit or the roof (...) (20 years ago, 14-Mar-05, to lugnet.general)

  Re: No Lego Window System

(...) One area of interest in Lego windows that has come to my attention was the use of decals. There have been some some interesting decals used with the 1x4x5 windows. Bank windows, sheriff's office windows, etc. have come out lately. The most (...) (20 years ago, 14-Mar-05, to lugnet.general)

  Re: No Lego Window System

(...) Yea, that would get the arch, the trouble is how tight into the peak the arch fits. For a larger scale, the 1x5x4 half arches might work to get something close. At a larger scale, one could do the arch using inverse slopes or even just (...) (20 years ago, 14-Mar-05, to lugnet.general)

  Re: No Lego Window System

(...) Well, it wouldn't quite fit scale-wise, but I know I've seen the 1x6x2 arches in conjunction with the little hinge arms plugged in underneath the arch: (2 URLs) That makes for a nice little archy-window, although it doesn't actually have (...)   Re: No Lego Window System

  Re: No Lego Window System

(...) Of course my house will never be buildable in minifig scale unless LEGO comes out with a special part. The arched window in this picture: (URL) be impossible to render. It might not even be easy to render in a larger scale. Of course I'd also (...) (20 years ago, 14-Mar-05, to lugnet.general)

  No Lego Window System

I know I've complained before about the lack of a "Window System" in Lego. The last system the 1957-87 classic Lego windows went out of production in 1987, with the exception of the 1x2x2 windows, which are still produced. Mostly my complaints have (...)
