This piece was made from 1958-72, and only in red or blue. When Lego sloped
bricks first came out in 1958 (in red, blue slopes came in production in 1960),
it was one of a 13 piece roof system. The other 12 pieces are still in
production, but this piece could be made with a 1x2 double/inverted and a 1x2
triple.
The spare parts packs that contained this piece were:
EU = Continental Europe, UK = Britain, CAN = Canada
#283 - Misc. roof, valley and angle bricks in red or blue. 1958-65. EU/UK *
#283/3 - Misc. roof bricks in red or blue. 1961-65. USA/CAN*
#481 - Misc. roof bricks in red or blue. 1966-68. EU
#981 - Misc. roof bricks in red or blue 1969-72. EU
#483 - Misc. roof, valley and algle bricks in red or blue. 1966-72. UK
#480/1 - Misc. roof bricks in red. 1966-72. CAN
#480/2 - Misc. roof bricks in blue. 1966-72. CAN
#059 - Misc. roof bricks in red only. 1966-72. USA
* = #283 started in Britain in 1960, #283/3 started in Canada in 1962.
All of the above spare parts packs had only one of these parts.
The only Lego set besides these spare parts packs that had this piece was #322
Lego Gabled House Set from 1965. That set had one of these in blue. This is
the only set that shows up in Peeron for that part.
Because of the early spare parts packs were so common, this piece is not all
that rare. But it is a conversation piece.
