Recently I found another variant of the 4 x 4 turntable.
The red, white and black turntable on the top row are all the dimpled versions.
(used between 1969 and 1976, according to peeron)
The white turntable on the bottom row is completely round.
(used between 1963 and 1974, according to peeron)
The black turntable on the bottom row is another variant on the dimpled version.
It does not have just a gap for studs, but there is a border following the shape
of a stud.
I used
some find edge filters to make it more clear.
I havent seen this variant before. I dont know where it came from. I got it in
a lot of 2nd hand lego from no later than 1977.
Fwiw, all my white turntables have a black shaft, the red and black turntables
have a red shaft.
