Larry,

Exactly. (and Paulo, I didnt miss your point, read on to see why) To be 9V
complete, you have to have BOTH of the stations I cited... despite being the
same design, they are a LOT different. Further, to be 9V complete you have to
have BOTH metroliners. Despite being the same design, they are a little
different. One is the original, the other is a reissue, but it has changed
stuff, in some cases because the original parts were not available or
whatever.
|
Although i have both metroliners (being the legend in multiple copies), i must
admit i bought the legend mostly for the parts. But if it was in new light grey,
there would not be no reason for me to buy it.
Again to the point of my first post. Imagine you never had the chance to grab
set 4547 (Club Car) in the first place. And imagine TLG decided to rerelease
with the new greys. Would it make you happy? (Apart from the question, better in
new grey than nothing.) I, certainly would not. But we may feel different about
this.
|
Now, when the first Legend (the Metroliner) was released, there was a great
hue and cry about it, as I recall. (its actually ironic, in some ways, if
you ask me) There were people that wanted it to be exactly the same as 4558.
There were people who were upset that it was at all different. There were
people who were upset that it was so close to the same, they wanted it in red
or yellow or whatever, any color OTHER than light grey (ala the two stations
I cited) because they were concerned about the dilutive effect on their
collections or whatever.
|
Of course i dont agree with these people point of view. Rather they seem to me
a bit selfish. (I had the opportunity to see something as you describe when USS
Constelation was to be rereleased. It was a shame.)
But, as for your example, it doesnt suite what i was trying to point out,
because the red dint replace the yellow. They were different colors living
together. I wouldn mind if Metroliner was rereleased all in white. But would,
if it was rereleased in a new white *replacing* the old white.
|
As it turns out I do not have a good copy of 5541, the original hot rod. So
Im looking forward to getting the legend. Im sure it will be a very good
set and worth having. Probably in multiple copies (I havent had time to do
the Peeron analysis to decide how many copies...) Even with new grey.
|
It is, no doubt a fantastic set with a lot of cool pieces (a lot of rounded ones
in blue). So im happy for you and for all the people who feeel excited about
this. I myself would buy another two (i have two already) if it was not for the
new greys.
|
You may not agree, Paulo, and thats your right. Vote with your wallet if you
like, but Im not sure, even when one uses English is not my native
language as an excuse, that your original post was all that useful.
|
Tha was not an excuse, but 1) it is hard to comunicate by writing and 2) it is
hard to *comunicate* in english. It takes me a lot of time and effort and
sometimes i think understand a word you said and then i check to the dictionary
only to find that i got it all wrong.
As my post beeing useful. Remember that i made a sincere question. By now i
certainly know the answer. But i *didnt* know then. So i see my post, at least,
useful to me. Maybe not to you. But do you think its fair to call it unuseful?
|
This set
is a Legend because LEGO says it is. Theres not much more to say about it.
|
5541 is a Legend. But LEGO is not rereleasing a Legend; is rereleasing a
slightly different set. A matter of opinions i suppose.
|
I think we all get the color thing now. There are fans that arent happy
about the color change. There are fans that say they are going to drop out or
arent going to buy stuff. Fine. (well see how long that lasts)
|
Good point. I think of that too, you know. And i have to ays its not easy...
|
But this
discussion isnt generating any new info, is it? Further, its giving Jake
more grief than he deserves.
Yes, yes, its the job of a CSR to take crud from customers. But I mean,
really... its gone past the point of ridiculous.
|
Hope Jake himself doesnt feel that way. I dont quiet understand to whom the
word ridiculous is mean to. But it is a strong word for people who only try to
express politely their feelings, and rightly so.
Best regards,
Paulo Renato
