I did a little check on my 1xn bricks and saw this "problem" on all types and
colours, from 1x2 to 1x8.
In my opinion, there are two or more moulds, each with a little difference, and
they change them every now and then. (For cleaning and maintenance, I think)
There is no indication that there is a "new" or "old" type. The past few years,
I got both types.
For me, it is no problem so far, and I had hardly noticed before you mentioned
it.
