Unless LUGNET creates more
user-friendly methods of setting up for posting, with clearer • documentation
and FAQs, I don't forsee many more marginally computer savvy people • joining
and participating. Some people here might welcome that side effect, but I
don't. I'd like to lower the bar, rather than raise it.

I wasnt sure where to put this but since it came up here I thought this
might work.

I am an NNTP posting fan so when I found out about the way nntp is done
around here with those authentication emails I wrote a script that auto
responds to them for me.  You can get the script here:

http://www.schwankeweb.net/LegoWorks/LugnetAutoResponder.html

This shouldnt violate the lugnet security because all it does is do what you
would normally do manually. Ive changed the process of reading, responding
and sending the confirmation messages into a couple button clicks on the
next time you recieve your email.

Anyone is welcome to use it and if you know more about VBA or Outlook2002
then I do please feel free to optimize this.  I wish it was smart enough to
auto email on its own but aparently there is a security issue where outlook
has to have the user 'approve' every email sent via scripts.  Couldnt find a
way to turn that off.

I am fairly new here so I couldnt guess where to post this where it would
get a good read and be on topic.  If someone wants to help me out that would
be great. Feel free to just cross post respond to this in the right place.
:)

Also if anyone think this is a good enough thing to include in lugnet web
proper somewhere for use in the faq or resources or whatever. Go for it.
The page name shouldnt change any time soon though I might add menues and
stuff and incorporate it into the new site i'm designing for my new hobb. :)

Also if I violated some unwritten rule or something that I dont know about
let me know and dont hate me. Please. :)

(...) Hi Michael - (...) Not at all! In fact, I think as this thread continues, we're getting better and better responses, getting down to the meat of things. (...) There are many LEGO fans which fit that description. More than half of my train club (...) (22 years ago, 18-Apr-03, to lugnet.general, lugnet.people, lugnet.fun.community)
