One blue tub (used by set 3033, 4107 and so on) holds around 1500 loose 2x4 bricks. And those 1500 2x4s, stacked, can form an 8x8 column with a hollow center about 8.5 feet (2.5 meters) high. Cary (22 years ago, 29-Oct-02, to lugnet.general)

(...) ... It's a difficult problem, because the blue tub's interior is an irregular shape. However, the inside is about 19 bricks high, a fraction over 30 studs wide at the top, tapering down to 29 studs, with the length averaging 39 or 40 studs. My (...) (...) Well, I would argue that the lid must be undistorted. If you allow distortion of the lid, you'd need to allow the tub to be distorted as well. Once you allow the tub to be distorted, then by facetious and nonsensical argument you might as well (...) (22 years ago, 30-Oct-02, to lugnet.general)
