company...strangely enough, I doubt dialling the number given for most
countries would work if you dialled them as printed...EXCEPT for Canada and
the US. [even Denmark would have trouble with them.]

An example of some of the numbers:
Australia: 0064 61 294 28 9666
Canada [English]: 1-800-822-4534
Denmark: 0045 79 50 69 79
New Zealand: 0064 92 62 20 98
UK Limited: 0044 (0) 8457 080 070
US: 1-800-822-4534

I note that you were giving an example, not necessarily quoting the whole
list; Am I right in presuming Germany was listed as well (with appropriate
international dialling prefixes)? IIRC Germany is LEGO's second biggest
market (after the US, of course).


Yep...the 'international' countries it gives the phone number for are:
Australia,
Austria,
Belgium [Flemish and French],
Denmark,
Finland,
France,
Germany,
Hong Kong,
Italy,
Japan,
Korea,
New Zealand,
Norway,
Portugal,
Singapore,
Spain,
Sweden,
Switzerland [French, German, and Italian],
Taiwan,
The Netherlands, and
UK Limited

Compared to the countries they care about [and give the local phone number for]
Canada [English and French], and
US

So, it's not as though they made a mistake on it with a couple of countries...

So what I'd like to know is if the LEGO company ever plans on treating those
people who don't live in the US/Canada in an equal way to those who do live
there, or if they have decided that they are going to treat one group of
customers as a privileged area, and expect everyone else to accept this.

Don't forget that there are Canadians who are resentful of LEGO's
US-centricity. Take heart that Canadians don't have their own S@H service,
but we do!

BUT, at least they have a choice of 2 numbers [1 for English, 1 for French]

I dunno if this counts, but I think we here have the chance of phoning the local offices of LEGO Iberia (Lisbon number, re-directed to Spain), and ordering stuff from S@H. At least that was the system used early this (...) (22 years ago, 13-Sep-02, to lugnet.loc.au, lugnet.general)
