I assume they mean Building blocks as opposed to clothes, watches ,bionicle
(only joking on the last one :) ).
Although we may argue the lack of traditional blocks in modern lines - town
jr, Harry Potter or Alpha Team - , they are still essentially traditional
LEGO construction sets containing building blocks (albeit specialist ones).
At least in the FT's and LEGO's eyes, even if not in ours :)

I can't see they meant the upturn in profits was due to Freestyle boxes and
bulk bricks.

I found this line to be interesting:

"Lego's traditional products such as building blocks "contributed
handsomely" to the year's result..."

I wonder where they sold all these 'building blocks'?  Not in my
neighbourhood.  Sigh.  Well there's always next year.  :(

I hate to sound like a broken record, but nothing they sold last year • looked
or felt much like their 'traditional products'.  Though the recent Super
Chief and Blacksmith Shop give me great hope.
