  Now, this is a REALLY embarassing question for me to ask,
  given a) how long I've been around here and b) that I should
  *know* how to find this information...

I apologize in advance if someone else has already posted this information,
but a quick glance at the rest of the thread doesn't show me that anyone
explained to LFB how to get the info for himself.  As I was stumped by this
process myself for a while, I am here to help now. Anyway...

LFB:

This is how I normally do such a search, there may be more direct ways if
you already know the database number for the element you want, but if you
don't have that information starting with the Partsref is the way to go
because you can view  a picture of the element first before proceeding
further into the search. The Partsref numbers correspond to Ldraw numbers
and not the numbers found on the real world elements themselves, at least as
far as I know.

1. From almost any page in the Lugnet newsgroups interface on the web, pull
down the menu next to the question mark and select "Parts Reference." [Note:
the default setting here is "News," in case you are having trouble locating
what I am talking about.]

2. Click on "Search."

3. The Partsref webpage shows a number of possible selections, but in this
case select "slopes."

4. You will now have arrived on a page that shows a number of slopes, in
this case we want the one specified as "3685 Slope Brick 75  2 x  2 x  3
Double Convex".  The link to click is the one labelled "Peeron: Slope Brick
75 2 x 2 x 3 Double Convex." [Note: the "Vattima" links are often quite
useful also.]

5. The webpage you arrive at shows the current listings of this element
according to the Peeron database. The listing looks something like this:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Black:
4 in 6074 - Black Falcon's Fortress
2 in 6081 - King's Mountain Fortress
Blue:
16 in 6091 - King Leo's Castle
4 in 7186 - Watto's Junkyard
4 in 6094 - Guarded Treasury
DkGray:
4 in 7184 - Trade Federation MTT
Gray:
1 in 6273 - Rock Island Refuge
Red:
2 in 6040 - Blacksmith Shop
White:
2 in 5561 - Big Foot 4x4
Yellow:
4 in 6075-2 - Castle
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The Peeron and Vattima databases are great resources, but far from complete.
But, that's how to do it if you are new to doing element availability searches.

As far as this particular steep or extreme corner slope element is
concerned, I would be keen to get accessory pack offerings in colors that
are already available and well accessorized as roof slopes, namely black and
red.  Of course, roofs are not the only possible use of these elements, but
it would be a great place to start until other colors became more readily
available.

(...) A very nice answer. I added it to the FAQ here: (URL) (23 years ago, 18-Dec-01, to lugnet.general)
