Whoever was trying to mass ftp download from 62.153.66.194, your
software is improperly configured and is trying to connect hundreds
of times simultaneously. Since that was impacting performance of the ftp
service, I blocked your IP at the firewall. If this was not the desired mode
of operation, post a message here indicating that it is fixed since you won't
be able to send me email from that IP.
For everyone else:
Auto-downloading (sucking) is fine as long as it is done linearly (one
connection at a time) and not in paralell. Consult your program
documentation for how to control this.

| (...) Lots of software is popping up these days which speeds up the download process. And they work, too! They work by starting many connections with the remote host at the same time. If the remote host is the bottleneck, it would normally (...) (23 years ago, 29-Sep-01, to lugnet.general)
