Yes and no! I found out that it is much easier to make more profit by using
eBay than by offering sets for sale or highest bid on LUGNET. As the profit
should be a 100% donation it is best if it gets the highest possible
price/bid. There are a lot of AFOL out there that don´t read LUGNET at all
but are collecting their sets via eBAy.

I agree upon faster payment and loosing money to pay eBay for the auction.
However the idea was to help familys from LUGNET directly. Donating money to
the red cross is all right but you can be sure that only half of it will be
used to help. I have worked for the red cross in Germany. They had as many
people in administration as they have for help/work. I do not want to see my
donation be going into the new Merceds of some Red Cross administration boss.
As no more replys are coming to this message I assume:
a) luckily no-one from LUGNET has been affected
b) and/or no-one seems to care about our offer to help
Tim from Bricks to Bothans has offered a similar idea with "Brickaid". What
I really like about the idea is that we could do this once a year to help
children without parents around the world. The response to his idea seems
low as well.
I got 1 reply from a friend in the US and 5 from Germany of people who are
interested to help. There also have been some voices that say "the USA don´t
need money, they have all they need. Give the money to some children in the
3rd world." I partialy agree and as said above this could be done by our
community once a year. But I think the victims of this terrible attack will
need every help they can get. So why is NO-ONE ELSE interested here in helping ?
If there is no more interest we will just sell our sets as usual on eBay
without stating their purpose and will be doing a private donation to the
red cross.
