I believe it's been a while since I tortured you all with one of my FOTW's, so
here goes--
It was past noon and by then the good stuff is normally gone, but I saw a
cardboard box with a red LEGO bucket sticking out the top. The sticker on the
box said $15 OBO. I looked closely and saw the 6416 Poolside Paradise
baseplate, a CRAPP, two yellow tudor walls connected side by side, and two
battery boxes in the LEGO bucket, among all the other pieces.
I offered $10 (higher than what I normally pay at garage sales) to the elderly
woman there, and she said she had to go ask her daughter because they belonged
to her. (I thought it would be really interesting to talk to the daughter
because judging by the age of the older woman her daughter had to have been
over thirty, and it had been HER LEGO!) Unfortunately she had gone to lunch.
But fortunately the woman sold me the box for $10. Here's what I got-- haven't
had time to see if it's complete-- most likely not (e.g., no instructions), but
the pieces are in VERY good condition:
Most(?) of 6086 Black Knight's Castle
Most(?) of 6416 Poolside Paradise
Some of 6409 Island Arcade
What looks like a lighting set--lots of electric plates and road signs with
hollow centers and translucent fronts that snap off
Other miscellaneous pieces
Included are
24 castle figs
2 ghosts
8 Paradisa figs
3 pirate figs
1 older town race car driver
The owner had put the female Paradisa heads on castle bodies and they were
decked out in full armor! I really wish I could have talked to her!

| (...) but (...) Boy, with a find like that, I would have been ashamed to take it for less than the offering price (so I'm a sucker sometimes...). What a steal! Good buy. Frank (23 years ago, 14-May-01, to lugnet.general)
