Hello everyone.  I've been lurking for about a month, trying to absorb
everything you all are writing about.  I'm 28, and just getting into LEGO.
I'm sure i had some as a kid, but nowhere as deep as most of you seem to be.
I quit smoking, and needed something to do with my hands while watching tv
and stuff, and someone suggested i try LEGO.  Well, I picked up a blue bin
and fell in love.  But now I have a problem.  I have a new addiction :).
But, since I'm on a budget, I can't just run out and but a bunch of
different sets, of buy 30 lbs of mixed pieces on ebay.  So i ask all of you,
which sets should i buy that will give me a lot of interesting parts and
colors to build my own creations.  I bought some of the power bins, but I'm
looking for some sets that will give me the biggest bang for my buck.  I
look forward to hearing your suggestions.

Matt

OK.  Here's a list of sets that I personnally think have lots of good
parts for use in about anything.  Yes, I WILL make a post about the Com-Link
Cruiser in lugnet.space, but I am waiting for everyone to come home from
visiting family etc.
  1.  Com-Link Cruiser $6.99  Can be found on some Lego sites for $5.
Absolutely neccesary for Space creations.  If you do want to go into Space,
buy as many of these as you can before they are all gone.
  2.  Mono Jet $2.99  1 figure, 1 wheel, 1 engine.  Buy 2 of these sets if
you are going into Space.
  3.  Red Planet Cruiser $6.99 Has parts good for Space, Town, and many
other themes.
  4.  Landspeeder $4.99  If you can find this set, buy several.  Good for
just about anything, plus comes with Obi-Wan, who looks kind of like
someone's grandfather.
  5.  Skiff  $5.99  Comes with some good hinge parts, flat plates, and other
useful stuff.
  6.  Hover-Flyer $2.99  Has some good parts, and is pretty cheap compared
to most Lego sets.
  7.  Any and all Shell promotional sets.  They only cost $1.99 each, and
can be combined to make some neat creations.
Most of these sets are good mainly for Space, but many of them can be used
for other things.  If you DID want to become a Town fan, you should have
started about a year ago when the last of the semi-good Construction sets
disappeared.
