I agree with you but doesn't the value of a set come mainly with having the
original box and directions to go along with it. Sure I know that some sets
are still worth is even without a box and stuff... just playing devils
advocate. But I for one wouldn't buy a set of "collection value" at
esp. at "collection value" prices unless it had a box and directions I'd realy
like it unopend but guess that would only be in a perfect world.
There are also way sto tell some of the older parts from the newer ones such as
the the 1xN plates. Besides I don't think the box art would be the same,
although I miss thos old boxes. And finally an influx in the availablity of a
reissued would be a big tip off to it being a "fake"
Changing the colors is a great solution- hence the retro station. Unfortunatly
the sets I'd like to see redone, police and fire wouldn't be the same in gray
and green. And yes I do know that IRL there are fire trucks in other colors
than red. Just not here in NYC.
