Hi Paul!  GREAT DESIGN!  I did not compete in teh design contest, but I have
only one question:  Are we able to use non-classic pieces?  The wheels you
used as engines are perfect, but I don't know if they were part of the
classic series.  But I still much prefer the way you did it.  :)

Does anybody knwo if the wheels are avalable in classic sets?

Hi Everyone -

I'm a long-time lurker, first-time poster. My name is Paul. I'm 32 years old and
live in the San Francisco Bay area. I'm a graphic designer by trade, recently
married, and I love Lego.

By now my story is a familiar one - I packed up all of my Legos when I was about
12, and entered my Dark Age. I missed Castle, Pirates, & Blacktron :-(  But when
I heard that Lego had acquired a license to make Star Wars sets, I was back in a
big way. I'm happy to say that I'm now Star Wars complete (though anxiously
waiting for the 2001 sets to show up in CA). And most importantly, my folks had
the foresight to keep all of my old Legos in storage, so I once again have all
of my old sets!

My favorite themes are Star Wars (obviously), Space, & Town Sr. My collection is
a modest-by-Lugnet-standards 25,000 bricks or so (though I'm working on it).
Sorting & storage are important to me, too.

I've de-lurked in order to enter Todd's Classic Space contest. I've built three
smaller models that combine to make one really big spaceship (I call it the
Universe Commander). I've posted pictures at Brickshelf:

I've also posted pictures of a Star Wars MOC. I originally built this for Mark
Sandlin's design-a-civvie contest last summer, but didn't get it finished in
time:

LMKWYT. Thanks - Paul

(...) It's not disallowed by the rules, but they try to discourage it. (It is, however, specifically prevented by the rules to use a non-classic-Space minifig.) (...) Those wheels didn't appear until the early 1990's -- 1992 IIRC. --Todd (24 years ago, 28-Nov-00, to lugnet.general, lugnet.space, lugnet.starwars, lugnet.people, lugnet.build.contests)
