Well I think that you will find that people here come from all walks of life
and all "Tax Brackets". Some can just plain afford to spend more because of
several factors. Some people have jobs that pay more, others might be single
with a good paying job and have more disposable income. These people can
probably spend more if thats what they choose. Others might be kids without
high paying jobs, people with a large family to feed, or just don't make as
much money, or just plain don't choose to spend as much on LEGO.
What I am getting at is there are a variety of factors as to why some people
can afford to buy multiple sets of everything and why others have to save every
penny to just get one set.
I personally have been switching gears from someone who spent a lot on a lot of
sets to one that will soon have a baby and much less disposable income. I am
in the process of finding ways to finance my LEGO habit while I don't have as
much disposable income. It means more work for me but in the end I can still
grow my collection of usable parts while spending much less money. Of course
that is easier for me because I could care less about the sets and only want
spacific parts so I can sell off the extras but if I were collecting sets I
would have a much harder time financing my habit.
Sometimes its also just a matter of being paitent and waiting for a big sale
and then gobbling up the sets cheap.
