No, they are very popular herer in the USA! They ran the regular two year +
cycle for LEGO creations here (per theme--red & black). America has this
obsession with mystical martial arts and eastern philosophy. I know a lot of
normally non-LEGO types that grabbed Ninja sets just for the novelty. They
began going on sale around New Years and now the Reds are going on sale. Many
major stores still carry them at full retail. The larger older sets are
disappearing fast, I get one whenever I see it (if I can). Lots of kids who
grew up with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are fond of the Ninja LEGO line.
If I am not mistaken, Germany has a thing for the American West (cowboy
stuff), America goes for Martial Arts.
Happy building!
