yes, I am definately interested.  When the GMLUG started up a couple of months
ago I was hoping something would fall together in the form of a meeting of
some type... but never did.  I am interested in the possiblities of group
projects after seeing some of the insanely cool things that other groups have
done.

As am I.  I know of a few people in Chicago, but Todd told me yesterday that
there is about 30!!  I wish more participated, we need a more active LUG.
I'll come up if at all remotely possible for this event.  It would help a TON
if I could stay at someone's house (the floor is fine), so I can save the $$
spent on a hotel.

I think that a general admission of $5 or $10 wouldn't be scoffed at.  But I
have no idea... (see previous question)

That sounds fair.

What do you want to see?

perhaps a couple of train set-ups if possible. One of the bigger ones is in
Minnesota, perhaps you could lure them here?

Well, there could be a few demos, and the wargames - Brikwars, Pirate Game
which are fun.  I played the Pirate Game at Brickfest and it was a BLAST!  I
can do the LDraw demo if people are interested, I'll have had a heck of a lot
more practice at it by then ;)

but seriously... not sure.  what CAN be available?  Maybe we could try to drag
a local Lego company rep to the thing... I have met one of them (quite
friendly lady, too), so they do come here.  I met her a couple of years ago
(97?) in the Brookfield TRU and even at that time she was fully that there are
a lot of us AFOLs out here with serious Lego hobbies.

I met one in Chicago last fall, who has since transferred to New England, who
was not aware of the AFOL communty.  Hmmm...go figure.  He was nice though,
and let me splurge on K8 :D

well, Tamy, I haven't done anytrhing like a Lego get-together, but I am
interested in helping.  You should also see if anyone in the GMLUG would want
to work with you on this.

Hopefully we can get some from Minnesota and Michigan to come, there are quite
a few from both places.

also, make sure you put up flyers at schools and colleges.  When people at my
college saw the stuff I was doing a lot of them seemed very interested, so I
bet you could make new AFOLs out of them with an impressive event.

Not a bad idea.  I know a lot of my friends (I just graduated high school)
find what I do interesting as well.  So yes, it could work.

Waiting for more... :)

Nine of these are in Chicago proper, so it's (...)
