Fellow Lego junkies,

I just got off the phone with Lego Consumer Service in
The Netherlands (since that's where I live.)

I talked to the nice lady for a while and mentioned the frustration
of not being able to order any piece you want.

Then she told me this:

"Just make a list with what pieces you want, include pictures or
drawings of the pieces and send it. We'll check for availability and
then send you an offerte. If you agree, we'll send you the pieces."

Woohoo!! Or did you guys already know?

Ofcourse, I immediately asked her if I could tell you guys, and I should
tell you to just call your local Consumer Service and try.

She also mentioned that large bulk orders (10.000 pieces) will probably • not
be accepted. Sorry for you hardcore builders, but at least you'll be • able to
order some. Heck, just split up your orders into smaller bulks.

It could take a few weeks to handle an order, and if pieces are not in
stock it could take even longer, because then they'll have to get them
from Denmark. All in all it could take 6-8 weeks at most.

For all you Dutch people: Consumer Service Benelux just moved, so they
won't be able to continue this service until April.

Hope I made some people happy in here!

Okay, now I'm off to make me a list or eight. :o)

Arjan,

Hi Gary,

Did you ask her if this was a new service?  Or are they just doing you a
favor?

Yes, I did ask that question, but she told me they've always been doing
this, so
it's absolutely not a favor either.

I also asked her if maybe she was talking about _missing_ pieces, but she
insured me
she wasn't. She really said "any pice you want, as long as it still exists".

Didn't Brad Justus (of LEGO Direct) ask that we not bother the LEGO • Consumer
folks, or was that one of the AFOLs that said that?  I can't remember.

I have no idea either. I never really followed that thread. But I don't feel
bad
about "harrassing" them anyway, because she came up with the whole thing.
:o)

Anyway, if you do plan on sending an order, keep us posted as to what
happens.

Sure will. Unfortunately, I won't be able to order until april. :o(

But don't hesitate to try your own local Consumer Service too. I
specifically asked
the lady if I could tell you guys about this and it was perfectly okay, as
long as you
don't all start calling Consumer Service in Holland. :o)

If you wanted to, you could include in your request an item that hasn't • been in
recent LEGO sets, such as 2x2x3 steep slope yellow corners, or one of the
classical window types.  You might end up with some rare pieces, and also
determine that they still have some old LEGO in their inventory.

That is a great idea! I was planning on trying to get something like
Forestmen
or something (yeah right, as if they'd still have those). But that's just
because I
want a few of those figs.  But now I'll certainly try to order some of those
old
pieces too, just to see what happens!

I wish it was April already...
