Re: Large macaroni from set 4753

(...) Yep, that would be me. I actually bought 4 x 4753 on sale, but ended up returning them solely because of the grey/dark-grey and fleshtone minifigs. It was difficult to pass up on the great parts selection though... -Bryan (22 years ago, 12-Jul-04, to lugnet.general)

  Re: A fan no more

(...) Thanks, I'm pretty sure that was what I was trying to say when I got everyone so angry. You said it a lot better though. A lot of old technic models had studdless beams, but they didn't go overboard. I was asking what now defines Lego. Current (...) (22 years ago, 12-Jul-04, to lugnet.general)

  Re: Perspective

Damn, Duq! You come along and make me feel like such a big baby! Here I am crying over the color change and you just pop my little bubble of sentimentality with the rusty edge of reality! No fair!! Seriously, I totally feel where you're coming from. (...) (22 years ago, 11-Jul-04, to lugnet.general)

Re: Has anyone noticed this? Is it even important?

(...) Hi Anthony and All, I definitely think that this is a different plastic. A softer (and slightly different colored) one. (Not unlike 1x1 lightgrey plate with clip when compared to regular 1x1 lightgrey plate.) I've noticed this change some (...) (22 years ago, 12-Jul-04, to lugnet.technic, lugnet.general, FTX)

What happened to the Brickshelf Next links?

Is anyone else with a contribution icon experiencing an omission of the Next link in their Brickshelf galleries? The next links in my brickshelf galleries don't appear to be working: (URL) folder has many more images. If you manually put the page (...)   Re: A fan no more

(...) And I don't buy Harry Potter or Spiderman sets ... oh wait ... I did buy a Hogwarts Express ... but only to get a large supply of 2x2 spoked wheels for my crane pulleys :) Everyone has their preference, I think there are many technic builders (...)   Re: A fan no more

(...) Jindrich, Just like you, I hope to see *more* studded/studless mixed sets in Technic's future. Last year at BrickfestDC, I asked Brad Justice what kind of training was needed that would help me get hired by LEGO as a Technic builder. He (...) (22 years ago, 11-Jul-04, to lugnet.general)

Re: Has anyone noticed this? Is it even important?

(...) I'm not a technic guy, I bought the new ones as 'new' from various bricklink sellers in order to build my Red Dragon, these were left overs. The old gears come from sets I bought and parted out. I've never used any of the gears that I compared (...) (22 years ago, 11-Jul-04, to lugnet.technic, lugnet.general, FTX)

Re: Has anyone noticed this? Is it even important?

(...) This depends on the axle and the gear and how much they have been used. Are your 8T gears very used? The plastic used seems malliable. I have to match gears and axles to get a good fit. Kevin (22 years ago, 11-Jul-04, to lugnet.technic, lugnet.general, FTX)

  Re: A fan no more

(...) Hey, this is a my clumsy pidgin, sorry, I'll try to reiterate ;-) I just wanted to say that most people admit that studless beams may be useful sometimes and that people are usually not against studless beams, but against studless sets. For (...) (22 years ago, 11-Jul-04, to lugnet.general)

  Re: A fan no more

(...) It's true that it's not recommended. The TECHNIC hole is smaller in diameter than the inside of a 1x1 round brick, which is what allows TECHNIC pins to be inserted into round bricks without damaging the split tip. That doesn't mean it doesn't (...) (22 years ago, 11-Jul-04, to lugnet.general)

Re: Has anyone noticed this? Is it even important?

I looked at my two maces - one has the old gear and one the new. The new one grips better than the old, not worse, but neither slips. I don't feel like disassembling my flails to test the fit on the gears. I'll dig out more gears as I come across (...) (22 years ago, 11-Jul-04, to lugnet.technic, lugnet.general, FTX)

Re: Large macaroni from set 4753

(...) (URL) mentioned it shortly after getting back from Toy Fair. I hadn't noticed any in the HP sets, but I did catch them in the 3579 NHL Street Hockey (kinda hard to miss them, since they're part of the rink barrier, and there's very little else (...)   Has anyone noticed this? Is it even important?

In a recent discussion over at Classic-Castle about maces, something came to my attention. The whole discussion is over this: (URL) It's a design for a minifig mace that I've been using for five years or so. I've never had a problem with it, but (...)   Re: Large macaroni from set 4753

(...) I noticed it the other day when the new Shop At Home catalog arrived. It's also featured in set #3579 - NHL Street Hockey. Looks like there are 4 tan ones in that set. I'm glad to see a new part like this for two reasons: 1) It's a new part (...) (22 years ago, 11-Jul-04, to lugnet.general)

  Large macaroni from set 4753

Yesterday, I purchased set 4753, "Sirius Black's Escape." The main reason I bought it was something that intrigued me from the photos - what looked like a large radius macaroni brick. Sure enough, the set contains 8 of them in (new) dark grey and (...) (22 years ago, 11-Jul-04, to lugnet.general, lugnet.harrypotter)

Re: Announcing new comprehensive book on Lego on CD.

(...) Hi Gary, I meant to post to this thread when it was new, but better late than never I guess. :) Anyway, I was thinking about this issue of printed vs. CD again today and wondered if you'd thought about doing both? Sort of like what Eric (...) (22 years ago, 11-Jul-04, to lugnet.general, lugnet.books)

Re: Named Beams (church and VW)

(...) I've seen a AD 1762, and a Anno 1762 brick. If you have a picture of a plain 1762 brick that you could share, I'd like to add it to my gallery (with picture credit as shown). (2 URLs) (...)   Re: A fan no more

(...) Where exactly? No studded beams in 8436, 8451, 8453, 8454, 8441, 8455, 8434, 8433, 8435. These are 'Technic' sets from last 2 years. (...) I don't think the people have issues with studless beams per se. I think they have issues with (...) (22 years ago, 11-Jul-04, to lugnet.general)

  Re: Perspective
