  Large macaroni from set 4753

Yesterday, I purchased set 4753, "Sirius Black's Escape." The main reason I bought it was something that intrigued me from the photos - what looked like a large radius macaroni brick. Sure enough, the set contains 8 of them in (new) dark grey and (...) (22 years ago, 11-Jul-04, to lugnet.general, lugnet.harrypotter)

Re: Announcing new comprehensive book on Lego on CD.

(...) Hi Gary, I meant to post to this thread when it was new, but better late than never I guess. :) Anyway, I was thinking about this issue of printed vs. CD again today and wondered if you'd thought about doing both? Sort of like what Eric (...) (22 years ago, 11-Jul-04, to lugnet.general, lugnet.books)

Re: Named Beams (church and VW)

(...) I've seen a AD 1762, and a Anno 1762 brick. If you have a picture of a plain 1762 brick that you could share, I'd like to add it to my gallery (with picture credit as shown). (2 URLs) (...) I always thought this was intentional in order to use (...) (22 years ago, 11-Jul-04, to lugnet.general, FTX)

  Re: A fan no more

(...) Where exactly? No studded beams in 8436, 8451, 8453, 8454, 8441, 8455, 8434, 8433, 8435. These are 'Technic' sets from last 2 years. (...) I don't think the people have issues with studless beams per se. I think they have issues with (...) (22 years ago, 11-Jul-04, to lugnet.general)

  Re: Perspective

(...) Our family knows an Afghan, and he was telling us about how he visited one family, and the child was complaining about school, and didn't want to go. He said that if this boy went to Afghanistan, he would be very thankful for school and all (...) (22 years ago, 11-Jul-04, to lugnet.general)

  Re: A fan no more

(...) Yeah, I suppose when you look at too many fantastic models you can start to feel a bit pathetic. Thanks for the advice (22 years ago, 11-Jul-04, to lugnet.general, FTX)

  Re: A fan no more

(...) I think that when TECHNIC bricks are used, a more solid appearance is given to the model. I personally quite like 8455. I think the previous technic excavators had a too blocky appearance. There are a lot of pneumatics in a small area and (...) (22 years ago, 11-Jul-04, to lugnet.general, FTX)

  Re: Who made this Frog

Thomas, Last December I went to the Art Institute in Henderson, Nevada to try out when TLG came here for the Master Model Builder Search. I had one of the worst colds of my life! :) I remember cursing myself because they had a lot of neat models (...) (22 years ago, 11-Jul-04, to lugnet.general)

  Re: A fan no more

(...) I'd be genuinely curious to see some specific uses where you feel this to be the case. I'm one of those people who mostly just uses the old-style TECHNIC bricks when I want TECHNIC features in a standard brick construction (like Moonbase (...)   Re: A fan no more

(...) For me, building out of LEGO is theraputic. I have fun building things, and appreciate the inventiveness that LEGO provides. I like your ship. I particulary like your uses of pneumatic hoses for non-pneumatic purposes. Don't worry about (...) (22 years ago, 10-Jul-04, to lugnet.general, FTX)

  Re: A fan no more

(...) You seem to be saying that today's technic is wholly incompatible with the rest of the LEGO product line. Nothing could be further from the truth. Do you have any evidence to back up this outlandish claim? Studded beams (that are still (...) (22 years ago, 10-Jul-04, to lugnet.general)

  Re: Perspective

(...) Duq, Bless you for reminding us of the big picture. We all live blessed lives as indicated by us being able to have hobbies. Many difficult events have transpired in my life in the last year that helped me realise how blessed my life is. My (...) (22 years ago, 10-Jul-04, to lugnet.general)

  Perspective

Tonight I've been watching 'Sport Relief' on the BBC. For those of you who don't know the program: it's a fund-raising event where all sort of celebrities do sport-related stuff to raise money for various projects. And of course they show those (...) (22 years ago, 10-Jul-04, to lugnet.general)

  Re: A fan no more

(...) It's not that I'm bothered about so much. It's the gratuitous use of liftarms where standard technic bricks could be used to better effect. However, it's no use trying to dig myself out of a hole. I can hear the mention of 8466, 8455, 8448, (...) (22 years ago, 10-Jul-04, to lugnet.general, FTX)

  Re: Who made this Frog

(...) With the weird and wonderful variety of models that the Master Builders come up with, you'd think they'd occassionally take a stroll through the parks with the idea of finding a small marketable model in mind. (...) I'm sure you'll develop a (...) (22 years ago, 10-Jul-04, to lugnet.general, FTX)

  Re: A fan no more

(...) Indeed. I used a 5-piece stud-free TECHNIC construct as a way to interface between the standard LEGO bricks and a BIONICLE part in (URL) these MOCs>. There wasn't room to squeeze any studded TECHNIC parts in, and the handlebars/side flares are (...) (22 years ago, 10-Jul-04, to lugnet.general, FTX)

  Re: Who made this Frog

(...) Well, I suppose so, but I don't see it happening. While technically it IS owned by TLC. It is just a model built at Legoland, therefore TLC has no knowledge of it, or probably any desire to make it into a set. But is is quite nice.... (...) (...)   The #309 Church set revisited...

This followup was sent to just lugnet.inst. However, I am reposting it to lugnet.general, since my reply is of a more general nature..... G. Istok (...)   Re: A fan no more

I agree 110% with everything you just said. Not only I agree, but I think exactly as you do. I got my 2004 summer catalog yesterday, and it's the worst they're ever been. A shame, considering they looked like they were on the right track in 2003 (...) (22 years ago, 10-Jul-04, to lugnet.general)
