Hoping for advice... Best way to get parts? Other "Builder AFOLs?"

I'd love to hear people's advice on getting the specific parts you need to build a specific MOC. I'd also like to know if anyone else is a "Builder AFOL" like me? Getting Parts: I know Bricklink is the short answer but I feel like I just don't get (...) (22 years ago, 4-Apr-04, to lugnet.general, lugnet.inst)

Question about set 4667 for anyone who owns one

Other than the stand for the roadsign, does the set include any parts in the new colors? I would love to get one for the canopy, buckets and such and if the roadsign stand is the only part in the new colors, its even better (since I dont like the (...)   Re: An Introduction

(...) It was my understanding that this is driven by the system recognising that you work for LEGO, it's not just a cool piece of gadgetry. :-) (22 years ago, 4-Apr-04, to lugnet.general, lugnet.people, lugnet.lego, FTX)

  Re: An Introduction

(...) Hey Brett! (...) Haven't seen too many other people that I know on here yet, but I'm glad to hear that they are involved. I try to pass the word around about LUGNET and AFOLs in general to anyone who suggests that they couldn't possibly take a (...)   Re: An Introduction

(...) The Capital has indeed been moved to LEGOLAND in Germany, however, the jury is still out I believe on how exactly PAB would be implemented in our store. One thing is that we have gone to yellow shirts now and should be seeing an upgrade in (...) (22 years ago, 4-Apr-04, to lugnet.general, lugnet.people, lugnet.lego, FTX)

  Re: The AFOL mind

(...) Funny you should mention that...I had a conversaton sorta like that at our post LUG dinner a couple of weeks ago. (...) I have that same situation, except I don't work out, play guitar and work hard:). What's been funny to me is that this is (...) (22 years ago, 4-Apr-04, to lugnet.general, FTX)

  Re: The AFOL mind

(...) Hi Felix, Yes, we're all dorks! We're probably "nerdy" too! But the truth is, "who cares"? I've found the greatest, most interesting, friendliest, and gracious people who fit the "dork" or "nerd" description. I often find those that don't fit (...)   Re: The AFOL mind

(...) I'd never analysed the difference between nerd, dork, geek etc..., not wanting to identify myself as any of them. I think that others' opinion of a Lego fan being any of those things depends on how you put it across. OK, so there's a range of (...) (22 years ago, 3-Apr-04, to lugnet.general, FTX)

  Re: The AFOL mind

(...) I think you're a cool guy Felix. After all, you ARE Jack Stone! ;) I don't know if this adds to the discussion, but I'll talk about it anyway, though I'm sure Lugnet is tired of me talking about it. This last weekend, TexLUG held it's (...) (22 years ago, 3-Apr-04, to lugnet.general, FTX)

  Dear LEGO...

Jake, ...or whatever other LEGO representative that might be reading this... Why has Canada been left out of this big list of LEGO store openings?!?! Not to ignore other countries, but Canada actually had a LEGO S@H until a couple years ago, and (...)
