The RV rules are for the 2000 edition, and the (latest) rulebook is 2001.  There
were a bunch of changes between the two years, so I'm not surprised if you're
hitting inconsistencies.  Most of the RV rules got absorbed into the regular
vehicles rules for 2001.  There were some mech-specific rules left over, but not
enough to make their own supplement, so they got saved for a short chapter in
the nanofleet supplement.

I am planning on bringing back robot brains, because they're funny, despite
being a pain in the butt to actually play.  They'll be under a different name
(so they don't get confused with android brains, which have different rules) and
under different cost structure and restrictions (based on Power ratings rather
than class numbers).  The "only one verbal instruction at a time" rule will be
reinforced with an "only accepts one verbal instruction per turn" rule.

I made stats for a battlemech I built over the
weekend, and it came to over 200CP with the robotic brain. It seems kind of
expensive, but it cost that much for everything I wanted on it.

200 sounds about right for a good-sized mech.  That's the cost equivalent of 15
armed troops or so.

As far as the RB goes, I wanted a backup for the pilot, and to be able to use
the mech without a pilot if needed.

In that case, when you write out the brain program, you just need to make sure
which parts of the program operate when there is a (conscious) pilot, and which
ones operate when there is no pilot.

(...) So, I should have used the regular rules. *Sigh* (...) Cool. (...) I'm looking forward to writing the program. I think that's the most interesting part of the RB. I was thinking of using a flow chart type program. ~Chris (20 years ago, 17-Jun-04, to lugnet.gaming.brikwars)
