One thing which you may not have realized initially was how close to the
beginning you arrived. It probably would have been worthwhile your just
jumping in right away. I think you're right though, a new player
probably shouldn't be placed off in the middle of nowhere, though I
don't think they should be placed in the middle of the action either.

Those are good ideas. I definitely want to make more use of wall space
for things like that. I've also got some ideas on modifying the
paperwork given to the players.

Definitely. Running the game is one of the reasons why I have amassed
such a collection (so all of you who were frustrated on eBay last year
can take comfort that you can actually benefit from my deep pockets - I
don't want to think about how much I had to invest to be able to run
this game [though it probably isn't out of line with other miniatures
games at a massive scale, and certainly takes much less prep time - no
painting of thousands of miniatures]).

I have a funny feeling next year everyone is going to be dragging home a
bunch of drinks...
