I can't believe anybody wanted to duplicate my insanity... But since some of
you did, I posted the plans on Brickshelf.

Be forewarned: the plan is a large JPEG. There is a half-sized version, but
it doesn't show the gridlines.
The rest of this may only make sense after you've seen the plan (and may also
be redundant, if so I apologize). It shows all of the layers from bottom to
middle and from top to middle. Well, it only shows part of each layer to save
space. It shows the bricks farthest from the center and only for one quarter
of the circle. You'll have to imagine (or construct,calculate or whatever)
what the whole layer should look like, but this is actually how I built it and
I only had to keep track of which layer I was working on. There are examples
shown for the top and bottom layers to help get you started.
Bulding tips:
- I started at the bottom and worked my way up. But I'd recommend starting in
the middle and working in one direction and then the other.
- Don't make it solid. Mine is only about one-third filled and weighs about
10-15 pounds. Use any kind of internal structure you want, but don't fill it
in!
- Do make sure you keep track of which layer you're working on. I messed up a
couple of times and once had to tear down six layers to fix it. Mistakes are
a lot less obvious in the middle.
- It will take a while to build so make sure to eat! It took me about fifteen
hours.
- It will take a lot of bricks! I used what I had left of 9 blue tubs (3033)
from the bunny and the 12 smaller eggs, and used up almost all of the
remaining red bricks to get the outside all red. I used up over half of what
I had of the other colors to hold it all together inside. I can't wait until
Easter is over so I can reclaim my bricks and start new projects.

P.S. In case any of you were wondering, this egg did not spring whole from my
mind, and I didn't just sit down and build it. I used a clip-art image of an
egg and copied it into an Excel spreadsheet I had modified to look like LEGO
graph paper. Then it was just a matter of getting a circle radius for each
layer and producing a brickified circle. I put them all together and used a
ton of bricks.
Next year's task is to use plates near the top and bottom to add more
definition.
