I was looking at the list of the item numbers of Scala sets when I started
wondering why certain numbers which should be there are skipped. For example,
the 18 sets from 1998 have numbers ranging from 3100 through 3120, but there are
no sets with #'s 3109, 3111, and 3113. Does that mean such items were
originally designed but did not make it for the actual production?

| (...) are (...) This is a really complicated question, only because it has a complicated answer. Though I have no idea what The Lego Company actually does, or doesn't do with certain numbers, there is some method to their madness. For some items, (...)
