I have to agree with Keith, it is a very mature letter that Kai writes.
Plus, from personal experience dealing with Kai (he was a exhibiting guest
of our Toronto Train Show (Train2)), he is not your average 14 year old.
In lugnet.events.brickfest, Keith Kirchoff writes:

I think this particular rule should be amended, as Kai has said, there will
be several AFOL's from his group. Larry P, Chris Leach (already a registered
participant), I'm sure Scott Sanburn and others will be going as well.
So if one of them is willing, I think an argument could be made that one / or
all of them be allowed to "chaperone" him around.
Another aspect to this issue is that there is a good chance that Kai will
be helping out or participating directly with the others from MichLUG/
MichLTC train display as he is an avid Lego Trainhead. If he is helping
run the display, in the trainroom, etc., I think he will be quite busy all
weekend.

Well I guess this rule and the child paying full registration cost is to
encourage the "little tykes" from attending.

Your probably right about the concept about not making an exception. This
issue shouldn't be compounded the same way it was made with other situations.
I don't think I need to further elaborate.
If you wanted to make it fair and still let Kai come without his parents,
agree to let one of the members of MichLUG/LTC agree to be his "guardian"
for the weekend.
Just my input on the situation.
Benjamin Medinets,
who hopes to send in his payment very shortly.

| (...) Yes, well worded, Kai. The conventions I used to go to had this rule for under-16s: An adult had to sign off on being legally responsible for you for the weekend. I'm not sure how VA law is on this, but in MI, at least back in the 1980s, that (...) (23 years ago, 7-May-02, to lugnet.events.brickfest)

But, alas, I have nothing to do with Brickfest and my opinion means nothing. Best of luck to you. KEith (...) KEith (...) (23 years ago, 6-May-02, to lugnet.events.brickfest)
