Yes, I can say that there will definitely be something. I am working with
Christina to determine what we can do and what we can't do. I will say from
being there last year, that the facilities are excellent and there is a lot of
opportunity.

Great!

Let me put you on the spot and ask you (and everyone else reading this) what
you would like to see presented in the way of animation at BrickFest 2002.

1. A themed competition with the entries being displayed at judged at the
convention, possibly even on the Internet.

Definitely! Even if it's just a "friendly" competition, it's always good to
see other people's stuff.

2. A "how to" and/or "hands-on" seminar where you actually get to practice
some animation techniques.
3. A tips-n-tricks discussion to pose ways of achieving a goal.
4. A round-table to discuss techniques and how others have done things.

All three of these have lots of potential. It's great to see how other
people tackle a problem.

Let me just throw another idea out here: how about combining the hands-on
and the competition? Break people down into small groups and have a
"Junkyard Wars" type event. "OK, everyone has 2 hours to make a film about
Subject X - GO!"

I don't know what kind of facilities there would be for something like this,
but it sure would be fun!

5. A showing of classics

Yes. Maybe this could run continuously somewhere (again depending on
facilities).

6. A discussion of software and hardware available and the pros and cons of
using that equipment.

This would be very helpful for people just getting into animation.

Thanks for letting me know about all these ideas - looking forward to seeing
the schedule.

Mike
