  BrickFest 2007 - Organizer's Recap

It's Tuesday. I think. That means BrickFest 2007 must be complete. I'm pretty sure, through the lack of sleep haze. And before the glow fades (or consciousness fully returns), I'd like to present a recap of the event. First, some numbers. Date: (...)   Re: Reporting from BrickFest PDX 2007 on LUGNET's homepage

(...) Heh, I wondered what you were doing over in the corner of Registration, hunched over your computer! Thanks for doing this, Rene. Hopefully we'll have a lot of noteworthy events for you to post about. The King Cake was excellent, as was the (...) (18 years ago, 30-Mar-07, to lugnet.events.brickfest)

Reporting from BrickFest PDX 2007 on LUGNET's homepage

Hi all, I'm in Portland for BrickFest since yesterday, and I will try to give short summaries from what happened during the event for all those who stayed at home. I will not do this by posting messages to the groups but make small entries to the (...) (18 years ago, 29-Mar-07, to lugnet.events.brickfest) !!

  Re: BrickFest 07 Draft

(...) Looks like this set has around 123 unique pieces. There are a few lots that we will probably split like the 2x2 blue tile, 1x2 white tile, and 1x8 red tile. We will match and split the wedges too. (pair up the left and right wedges and then (...) (18 years ago, 28-Mar-07, to lugnet.events.brickfest, FTX)

  Re: BrickFest 07 Draft

(...) Not sure if Bob saw this, so I'll take a shot... generally we'll set lots by number of unique pieces in the set. In the event of a lot being overly large and/or coveted, it's sometimes split by common agreement. For example, when GPLR did the (...) (18 years ago, 27-Mar-07, to lugnet.events.brickfest, FTX)

Re: BrickFest PDX 2007 - who's getting paid?

  Re: BrickFest 07 Draft

(...) Bob- Is the number of lots set by the number of total pieces in the set or the number of unique piece types in the set? -Ted (18 years ago, 27-Mar-07, to lugnet.events.brickfest, FTX)

  Re: BrickFest 07 Draft

(...) Am I the only one that read that and immediately thought: Wouldn't it be great to build each of them in jet form and create an enormous "BrickFest 07 Squadron"! What? Just me? Drat. It's too bad the speed build won't use this set and the Jet (...) (18 years ago, 23-Mar-07, to lugnet.events.brickfest)

  BrickFest 07 Draft

Yes there will be a draft at BrickFest this year! In case you forgot, a draft is where everyone brings an unopened copy of the same set. All the sets are sorted into lots and then lots are chosen in a round robin fashion till all the lots are gone. (...)   Re: BrickFest™ PDX 2007 - Robotic Easter Egg Hunt

Do we loose points for melting the eggs? At any rate, it makes the foil stay on better. ;-) --Peter (18 years ago, 22-Mar-07, to lugnet.events.brickfest, lugnet.robotics, FTX)

Re: BrickFest™ PDX 2007 - Robotic Easter Egg Hunt

(...) Will, If you do manage to combine RCX & NXT, I expect it will look mashed-up, but unlike all the other stuff at BF, this is not a how-does-it-look competition. No matter how it looks, I'm sure people will cheer for robots that try to give them (...) (18 years ago, 21-Mar-07, to lugnet.events.brickfest, lugnet.robotics)

Re: BrickFest™ PDX 2007 - Robotic Easter Egg Hunt

(...) I'll give it a whirl! I wouldn't want you to get the NXT prize just because you were the only one entered. :) My 'bot may be a mashup of RCX & NXT. It will likely be horrible ugly, and exhibit questional operational effectiveness, but fame and (...) (18 years ago, 21-Mar-07, to lugnet.events.brickfest, lugnet.robotics, FTX)

Re: BrickFest™ PDX 2007 - Robotic Easter Egg Hunt

One cool thing about being a nay-blay-er (IMHO)

We won't have access to all the new parts. Is that bad thing? In the case of a few of the new parts, definitely! The new 1x1 angled brick is one of the best new parts in years. Ditto the new 1x1 tooth plate. However, as nay-blay-ers, we will have (...) (18 years ago, 18-Mar-07, to lugnet.events.brickfest, lugnet.color, FTX)
