These questions and answers are on the audio transcript so I may not try to
trascribe as hard.
Q: PaB in Canada?
A: working on it as we've explained before
Q: How is Quattro doing?
A: we're happy. I personally like the line extension to complete 0-99 (Quattro
is the final piece of that puzzle)
Q; (Lenny) Which do you think is the best theme?
A: Refused to answer... He's most impressed with space because it's grown so
fast... 80 moonbase modules! wow. Train needs to one up these guys!
Q: Is the BNSF limited or numbered? and when can it be preordered
A: No, and not sure yet but soon, and it will be posted. Make checks out to Jake
McKee.
Q: Mark Sandlin - thanks for the (new classic space) hat and the store in
Seattle... Space legends?
A: There are a lot of legends aren't there?
Q: Universal colors been finalised yet?
A: Not yet... it always comes down to last minute. Danes go on vacation in the
summer... a lot.... maybe next week. Hopefully soon. I am doing my best trust
me. Sorry it has been so long.
Q: (Geoff G) Groups are developing standards.. moonbase, C3... is LEGO thinking
about incorporating any standards from the community?
A: In a lot of ways we are the "where do we put this" team. Lego Factory for
example why is that under Community Development? There are NDA projects I can't
talk about
Q: Black Seas Barracuda? re released again?
A: not sure
Q: (to Nik) How much were you paid and by who? (Nik: no comment, then asked...)
Aquazone legends?
A: (Jake) can't talk about new sets!
Q: Scott L - confirm the stores this year? (LISTED A BUNCH which I want him to
post for us)
A: Yes that's correct, 24 LEGO stores in the US
Q: I participated in a survey for Mindstorms... any new news.
A: I can't talk about new products. FLL uses mindstorms. Mindstorms HAS to live
on in some form or fashion and it is not dead.
Q: Lenny - You talked about a tipping point in relations between the company and
fans... you are in between. what do you see 20 years from now? What woul dyou
like to see happen?
A: Good question!. A continuation of what is happening rihgt now. Get fans
involved, blur the line between official and unoffical. Brake the barrier. Free
travel. Get things like the voitng the legends the hats to be routine. I love
sitting and brainstorming about what we can do. It gets better and better
Q: What can you tell us about next generation of mindstorms
A: (in danish accent) "I cant!" ... I can't talk about upcoming product plans.
(questioner repeats question)
Q: (Kai) - article in model railroader magazine.. displayed the ATSF super
chief... is LEGO continuing that direction or is it going to stay in toyland?
Great opportunity to grasp a new marketplace
A: That was a shop at home ad that was a test. It worked good but not
wonderfully. Unfortunately LEGO trains is not prioritised as one of the top
product lines. My Q back to you is why does it have to be us? ILTCO is doing a
fascinating and wonderful job already. We provide the stuff, you decide what to
do with it. ILTCO is working with the NMRA to do a huge presence at their
national train show next year! Get in front of the MR guys and we will do our
stuff!
Q; (Abner) - Over the years I have travelled a lot. I was just in Tokyo. There
was LEGO there you can't get here (the stereo for example) ... is LSAH going to
have a Japanese site?
Also any Mac Mindstorms or LEGO designer support?
A: The region specific sets and some other items... they just are not always
going to work in the NA geography. It was licensed and we can't force them to
market to NA. Maersk, and El Al... we either worked with them or in some cases
they buy ALL of them... we are bound by that. S@H does a pretty good job of
getting just about every LEGO product you can buy... sometimes they cannot.
We have to get the low hanging fruit... adding Japan is a LOT of work. We add
stores as best we can. What's the business case? what makes sense? We were not
allowed to sell the Nesquick bunny at all... that means if we sold it, that
Nestle would not move as much NesQuik as they want to sell.
As far as Mac... Mac numbers overall are just not there overall. We try our best
but we have to focus on the main market.
Q: Eric Sophie: what has it been like for you to teach your colleagues about the
fans?
A: I like the big fight... not that it's a fight but we fans are the underdogs.
trying to introduce something new to people that may think they don't need to
learn new things (about fans) can be challenging. I am over that hump I hope
though... people come to me now. I now have the network in the fans to get
things done. IU now have the network in the company to get things done. I want
to continue to hear what you say and tell you waht I can share. I love my job...
My role is to help you guys be happy! That is cool!!!!
Q: Abner - what's up with thebrickshop.com? How would we go about getting
approved?
A; that site IS authorised and under contract. They have some trademark issues.
They are dealing with legal and getting it resolved. long sytory but the
independent toy dealers came to us to see what could be done. The big online toy
sites all collapsed and caused problems. We took the real storefront
approach.... then we decided to test with a small group of people. that shop is
one of them.
End of questions.

| Maersk ship story. There IS no more Maersk Blue... did you want to adjust your BrickLink stores? So now what? S@H said what would the fans like next? Cool things 1 - they came to me! 2 - I said Dk green or Dk Blue.. they said OK 3 - But why not just (...) (20 years ago, 14-Aug-04, to lugnet.events.brickfest)
