BrickFest Roundtable - What is the LEGO Community?

A quick look at the BrickFest presenters page reminded me I was facilitating this roundtable! So, I’m starting to put some thoughts togehter for it, and I’d like to know what you think!

I see it as an opportunity to continue the type of discussion that took place in this thread:

  Quantifying and Classifying the LEGO Community
 
Over the better part of the last year, I've done a lot of thinking about the LEGO hobby and the LEGO community, trying to develop a philosophy on it which I use to channel my efforts, energies, and interactions. I'm interested in hearing others' (...) (22 years ago, 9-Apr-03, to lugnet.general, lugnet.people, lugnet.fun.community) !! 

I have to go back and re-read key posts in that thread myself, but I’m thinking discussion can hit on a few points like:

• What are the various fan communities we see on local, regional, national, and international levels?
• How do communities relate to each other?
• What are the interests and biases of different fan communities?
• How do we work to build bridges between these communities?

(...) The Community Development team (the team I am on), spent some time looking at this same question. As you can imagine, we get LOTS of questions internally about "What is community anyway?" To address that question, we developed a generic (...) (22 years ago, 11-Apr-03, to lugnet.general, lugnet.people, lugnet.fun.community) !! 

Do you have any specific thoughts you’d like me to consider when preparing a (loose) outline for points to hit in this roundtable discussion?
