The problem is that there would be such a huge density of dots in certain
locations that it would just get unweildy. It already is that case for the
Bay Area, with its high dot concentration at Brickswest. I think just
having one instance of each fest on the map at any given time is the best
solution. The idea for me is to be able to see who goes to what fests from
where.
And, like Troy said, sourcing a big pile of dots in all the requisite colors
would prove to be annoying :)
