Re: The Pirate Game at BrickFest 2002

(...) <beaucoup de snippage...> :) It looked like Larry didn't have a lot of luck this year... ;) The game looked very fun from what I saw of it. I was tempted to join but was "rebuffed" when I was told that I couldn't use Imperials or use (...) (22 years ago, 24-Jul-02, to lugnet.gaming, lugnet.events.brickfest, lugnet.pirates)

  Re: Pictures are up

(...) I'm 15, and from the Tampa Bay area. It's entirely possible. (...) so that the bottom wing can hinge up THROUGH the body, folding completely up into. Then the side wings fold down as well, and gear deploys, so that the fighter can land in a (...) (22 years ago, 24-Jul-02, to lugnet.events.brickfest)

  Re: Bill Changing Machine

(...) Knowing that Lego in bulk 25 cent vending machines has been a long-time dream of Suz's, I was also sad when her supplies were exhausted. I was very happy to be able to refill the machine with what minifigs and elements I had available so more (...)   The Pirate Game at BrickFest 2002

Well, I didn't take many pictures, and I don't think we had a web cam in the room, so I won't be able to do a turn by turn re-cap of the game, so I'll just free associate about the game... First off, as has been mentioned before, this was absolutely (...) (22 years ago, 24-Jul-02, to lugnet.gaming, lugnet.events.brickfest, lugnet.pirates)

  Re: Brickfest Pics: Two Cranes

(...) That looks like the TJ I saw getting my big box off the luggage carousel... And the crane base looks like the one I helped re-assemble while waiting for Lindsay to emerge from the I-95 traffic mire... So I would say you score two for two there (...)   Re: It was great meeting people at BrickFest!

And it was great meeting you Todd. I didn't really keep track of who all I met, and made re-acquaintance with. Frank (22 years ago, 24-Jul-02, to lugnet.events.brickfest, lugnet.people)

Re: It was great meeting people at BrickFest!

(...) It would have been quite a trick to meet JT, he was a last minute no show... I believe he and his wife have been trying to adopt for some time and just got the green light, and when they say you go, you go... (22 years ago, 24-Jul-02, to lugnet.events.brickfest, lugnet.people)

Re: It was great meeting people at BrickFest!

(...) But we did meet! But only briefly- it was Sunday afternoon in the Technic/Mindstorms room ;-) I know, there were so many people to see at the fest. It was great. I'm sure I missed a lot people too that I'd liked to have met. Hey, there's (...) (22 years ago, 24-Jul-02, to lugnet.events.brickfest, lugnet.people)

Re: Brad J Brickfest 2002 Keynote Speech synopsis

(...) Just wanted to mention that i greatly appreciate your transcribing the remarks, as some other have mentioned. It kept people like me who had no means of getting to the brickfest in the loop. I really just needed to comment on the whole lego (...) (22 years ago, 24-Jul-02, to lugnet.events.brickfest)

  Re: Brickfest Pics: Two Cranes

(...) Ah-Ha! My crane has been spotted. Yes, that's me and my beast. I'll try and get up a few pics of it tomorrow. I'll let ya know. I had a good time letting people "drive" it (like Larry, as he said). It was good fun. I had an even better time (...)   Re: Brad J Brickfest 2002 Keynote Speech synopsis

(...) It was Brad. All otherwise unattributed comments (1) were his. However Jeff is right, the rest of the room shouted it out at pretty much the same time. It was pretty funny. 1 - if it just said "A:" rather than say "Jake:" before the remark... (...) (22 years ago, 24-Jul-02, to lugnet.events.brickfest)

Re: Brad J Brickfest 2002 Keynote Speech synopsis

(...) People do talk faster than I can type. (1) But in some cases I got what was said word for word. This is one of those cases (2). You could sort of tell that Brad was semi expecting the question and had a snap answer ready to go. (the "maybe" in (...) (22 years ago, 24-Jul-02, to lugnet.events.brickfest)

Re: Brad J Brickfest 2002 Keynote Speech synopsis

(...) I don't know who asked the question, but LD din't need to answer, the entire audience did it for them. Jeff (22 years ago, 24-Jul-02, to lugnet.events.brickfest)

Re: Brad J Brickfest 2002 Keynote Speech synopsis

(...) You're right, thats probably what was meant, and i had forgotten about the sopwith camel. Although one thing i would like to know, that was missing from transcript, was exactly who said the comment? Was it actually someone from LD? (22 years ago, 24-Jul-02, to lugnet.events.brickfest)

  Re: Brickfest Pics: Two Cranes

(...) It's him and it's his crane. That thing is pretty amazing. It uses some non LEGO(r) (notably the remote control and a few other bits) but not much. I got to drive it! Way cool. (22 years ago, 24-Jul-02, to lugnet.events.brickfest, lugnet.technic, lugnet.town)

Re: Brad J Brickfest 2002 Keynote Speech synopsis

(...) No, Lego doesn't do *modern* military. You won't be seeing tanks and F-16s until they are totally obsolete, like the Sopwith Camel is, if even then. Jeff (22 years ago, 24-Jul-02, to lugnet.events.brickfest)

Re: Brad J Brickfest 2002 Keynote Speech synopsis

(...) Yeah, I always take that with a grain of salt too. I figure what they really mean is, "LEGO doesn't do military themes that your son [or daughter] could actually go die in." --Todd (22 years ago, 24-Jul-02, to lugnet.events.brickfest)

  Re: My scattered thank-you's

(...) Aw darn, I missed this one -- didn't even see it. What room was it in? Who built it? I heard it was _quite amazing_. --Todd (22 years ago, 24-Jul-02, to lugnet.events.brickfest)

  Re: Brickfest Pics: Two Cranes

(...) I'm also wondering who did this (URL) is that you there TJ? More important, is that your crane? ROSCO (22 years ago, 24-Jul-02, to lugnet.events.brickfest, lugnet.technic, lugnet.town)

Re: Brad J Brickfest 2002 Keynote Speech synopsis

<snip> (...) <snip> Lego doesnt do military. Really. So a set like 6762 Fort Legoredo, 6271 Imperial Flagship, or 6280 Aramada Flagship are not military based sets? While Lego may insist these are based in other themes like pirates or western, all (...) (22 years ago, 24-Jul-02, to lugnet.events.brickfest)
