I'd love to get all of their stuff.  It sounds great.  I don't think I can get
the school or the PTA to buy any until I look at the lesson plans, and
show them how easy and appropriate they would be.  I'll buy some of the lesson
plans as soon as I can free up some money.  I know there are some free lesson
plans on the web which use LEGO, many are not quite ready to just give to an
elementary school teacher and have him/her teach it.

I like your Rube Goldberg idea.  Could this be done in modules; say a gear
module a lever module, etc.?  When the modules are put together you have
your finished machine.  Each module could be done in a separate session, and
bring them together for a finale.

Modules sound possible.  The separate sessions probably won't happen, but some
premade modules, so the kids that need "juniorization" or those with little
time will be able to participate, and those who like to build from scratch
would be able to. Modules would also decrease the chaos level.

Actually, if I learn to use LDraw or such, I could write up the modules  and
put them up on the web somewhere.  I could get some of the area LEGO guys to
come to a Legofest to brainstorm the modules. Some of them are really into this
sort of stuff.

So, you need both even if you already have the building pieces. If you (...) (25 years ago, 15-Mar-00, to lugnet.dacta, lugnet.edu, lugnet.general)
