Forward is of an announcement I received from the MIT Media Lab's
Epistemology and Learning group.

Mitchel Resnick conceived StarLogo and implemented the original version on the
Connection Machine. A related book of his is titled, "Turtles, Termites and
Traffic Jams."

This version of StarLogo is recommended for ages 13 and up.

---------------------
We are releasing a new version of StarLogo, our programmable modeling
environment that makes it easy to explore the workings of self-organizing
systems (like bird flocks and traffic jams).

This new version, called StarLogo 1.0, is implemented in Java and runs on
all different types of computers. Most notably, it is the first version of
StarLogo to run on PCs. Our earlier version of StarLogo, which ran only on
Macintosh computers, has been renamed MacStarLogo.

You can download it from the StarLogo Web site at:

    http://www.media.mit.edu/starlogo/

If you try StarLogo 1.0, let us know what you think. Please send suggestions and
bug reports to bug-starlogo@media.mit.edu -- or share your ideas with the
StarLogo community at starlogo-users@media.mit.edu
