My son has spend his allowance on a couple of the new Thomas sets (Percy and James). James comes with one piece of curved track (along with others including a switch). I've noticed that all the Duplo track that's come with these sets has a ribbed (...) (19 years ago, 4-Jul-05, to lugnet.duplo, lugnet.trains, FTX)

This was covered in Lego's 2003 annual report. More recently, in Lego's 2004 annual report, they say that Duplo contributed to their operating profit in 2004. (...) TRU in Pittsburgh, PA now has a few Thomas sets, including Toby, James, and Thomas himself. Not sure of the official set names. The sets for Dora the Explora are also available, but I think that they've been there a little longer than the (...) (19 years ago, 18-May-05, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.duplo, FTX)

They were very popular in countries other than the UK, so they (the characters/stories) were propelled to the world stage many years before anyone thought of a Brio Thomas or TV series. (...)
