  Re: Junior, Juniorized, Juniorization

[ X-posted to lugnet.dear-lego because I don't like juniorisation ] [ X-posted to lugnet.build because I have a building suggestion ] Richard Marchetti: (...) I think it depends on who you talk to. IMO the main juniorisation indicator is POOP's: - (...) (25 years ago, 12-Dec-99, to lugnet.faq, lugnet.dear-lego, lugnet.build)

  Re: Introducing LEGO Direct

First of all, welcome! It is always a positive sign when a company should choose to engage in dialogue with its customers. It is futher encouraging that TLG recognises that AFOLs are a significant part of their customer base. Many of us, no doubt, (...) (25 years ago, 12-Dec-99, to lugnet.general, lugnet.dear-lego)

(...) _An_ important thing. And yes, pleasing your Significant Other, if it is possible to do so without compromising your own morals, _is_ an important thing. Regardless of your sex. Jasper (25 years ago, 12-Dec-99, to lugnet.dear-lego, lugnet.scala)

  Re: Introducing LEGO Direct

(...) Not to mention that, especially for people here, it simply Won't Work. If the US prices are cheaper than EU prices by more than shipping (shipping, BTW, is reasonably constant across all countries for service sets - food for thought), there (...)   Re: Introducing LEGO Direct

As a first step, we at LEGO Direct want to participate actively in these newsgroups from now on - that is, if such participation is something that you want. Please realize that it will take some months for all our new efforts to be fully visible - (...) (25 years ago, 12-Dec-99, to lugnet.general, lugnet.dear-lego)

  Re: Introducing LEGO Direct

Hi Brad, Welcome, this is indeed a big moment for us, so lets hope that something will come out of this proposal. First some good news : A local newspaper wrote that Lego was the most sold toy in the last century !! Now the question : Will those (...)   Re: Horrible quote from the Scala web catalog

I agree, Tamy. I've discussed this general topic with a few Danish women and they hardly saw anything wrong with such statements as the one quoted. There is an interesting book, which I'm sorry to say I've only read a fraction of, titled: Americans (...) (25 years ago, 12-Dec-99, to lugnet.dear-lego, lugnet.scala, lugnet.general)

Re: "If it were my toy company..."

(...) This also -- to my non-laywer mind, of course -- partly reduces the legal issue. If submitted designs are publically available on the web site for a year or so before being considered for production, that seems like ample time for the (...) (25 years ago, 12-Dec-99, to lugnet.dear-lego)

Re: "If it were my toy company..."

(...) Maybe someday we'll see Larry's black hopper car. Wouldn't that rock?! :) The big legal hurdle there is indemnification against false representation. (Say some model creator steals a design from someone else and represents the design as (...) (25 years ago, 12-Dec-99, to lugnet.dear-lego)

Re: "If it were my toy company..."

Go Todd! I agree wholeheartedly with every idea, especially the point about being able to submit your own models for consideration as a company-produced set. Just imagine a line of text on the box: "This Lego set custom designed by: Your name here!" (...) (25 years ago, 12-Dec-99, to lugnet.dear-lego)

  Re: Brad Justus is real

(...) Actually, no, it's not possible to effectively forge messages here. Yes, you can post messages using someone else's name (easily, even). But it is _not_ possible to forge the originating IP in Todd's logs. Which means that even though _we_ (...) (25 years ago, 12-Dec-99, to lugnet.dear-lego)

"If it were my toy company..."

[crossposted to .dear-lego & .general; followups to .dear-lego] Brad Justus, Senior Vice President of LEGO Direct, wrote in (URL): "We want to be a company with whom you want to be involved. We want to be the company you'd like us to be. And to do (...) (25 years ago, 12-Dec-99, to lugnet.dear-lego, lugnet.general)

Re: Get a load of THIS bozo...

Oops. Yes, of course. I know nothing of the real Brad, who (supposedly?) works for LEGO. But the troll who posted to rtl in Brad Justus' name was Chris McKinney, who has been hanging about, wondering what kind of money she can get for her LEGO (...)   Re: Get a load of THIS bozo...

(...) Just to clarify (!) Robert is speaking about the so-called "scam Brad Justus", not the Real Brad Justus. Brad Justus is a real person, but someone forged a post in his name on the Usenet group rec.toys.lego yesterday. --Todd (25 years ago, 12-Dec-99, to lugnet.dear-lego, lugnet.general)

Get a load of THIS bozo...

Here's some mail I received this morning, after I figured out that the scam "Brad Justus" is really Chris McKinney. This can be independantly verified via deja.com, but examining the source on the scam message, and then running a search to see who (...) I've got email addresses inside of LEGO too, and I guarantee you Brad is for real. What he has expressed is the manifestation of many ideas I have heard before, privately. Make no mistake, LEGO direct is for real. KL (...) (25 years ago, 12-Dec-99, to lugnet.dear-lego)
