Maybe this has been brought up before, maybe not.

My friend and I were discussing yesterday the need for bricks in colors
like Gray, Dark Gray, etc....colors which aren't very common in bricks
(except in Star Wars right now).  I think an odd color assortment of bricks
in a 1200pc tub would be a HUGE seller.  How about selling a bucket with the
same assortment of brick dimensions in Gray, Dark Gray, Orange, Tan, Brown,
and one of the new LOM faded colors?  This would help people like train
clubs and space and castle builders out a lot!!  I'm sure many people would
go broke buying them.

but why isnt just supplying these bricks in the current bulk packs on s@h
the way to do it?
Now you might be lazy and say I cant be bothered to select 12x 100 brick
packs in exactly the colors and sizes I want, but I would say I don't want
Lego deciding for me what that mix of 1200 bricks should be.

Surely the answer to bulk requirements is more choice of bulk bricks, NOT
more pre-packaged sets - even if they do only contain bricks.

Thumbs down from me for this idea I am afraid.

The current bulk packs don't have 1x1's, 1x3's, 2x3's in any color; they
don't have 2x2's, 2x6's in every color.  But that's beside the point.

I think Tim was suggesting a retail solution, that people who aren't aware
of or don't use S@H would see on the shelf.

S@H isn't LEGO's primary market, and Tim was suggesting (and I agree!) that
1200 pc tubs in drab colors would sell very well off the shelf.
