Yep, my first bulk purchase was in the late 70s, so I was around 10 at the time.   Re: LEGO is listening! Juniorization!!!!!!!

(...) I think we must wait for Harry Potter at years-end for the best of 2001. My hope is that it targets the audience that will sit still to read a 714 page book more than the audience for a 2-hour movie. -Erik (24 years ago, 6-Nov-00, to lugnet.lego, lugnet.dear-lego)

(...) Don't forget his motto, 'Only the best is good enough.' I wonder when this was taken out to the curb? It *is* getting better though, and people *are* listening and responding.   LEGO is listening! Juniorization!!!!!!!

I myself have read 40+ messages & Ashly's response. I offer this thought.... (...) Many of us spend way less than that. ($500/year?). However, I think you're also far underestimating our numbers. There's 645 *paid* LUGnet members, and I'd guess that it's safe to figure there's 20x that who haven't paid. (Even if they aren't (...) (24 years ago, 5-Nov-00, to lugnet.lego, lugnet.dear-lego)

[snip] (...) I ofter wonder about that myself. First... I tried, in a VERY unscientific way, to determine for myself what percentage of the Lego market we represent. Hello Ashley, as I must accept your decision for "juniorizing" (even if I have mixed feelings about it) I think that the result is bad for the hard-core-legoists.
