Why not call the current helment Minifig Helmet (which is what it is now) and call the classic helment Minifig Helmet Old with Thin/Thick Chinstrap (21 years ago, 12-Dec-03, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts, lugnet.db.brictionary)

(...) put the blame on me ;-) I named them type 1, 2 because 3839A.dat and 3839B.dat are named: Plate 1 x 2 with Handles Type 1 - 3839A.dat Plate 1 x 2 with Handles Type 2 - 3839B.dat the only difference is in the height of the handles. the (...) (...) Personally, I've thought of the "crash helmet" as the helmet that can accept a visor. You could also use the word "modern" as a descriptor.
