Hi everyone,

I wanna apologize. I had about 100 or more pictures of some totally awesome
characters in my grasp, and I let them slip.

Let me explain. For the past year or so, Chris Maddison has been making
minifigs, including some modified figs, and has had amassed quite the
awesome collection (IMHO). But he doesn't have a digital camera, and
attempts to take pictures with a normal camera didn't turn out well.

This February I went to Chris's house and brought my digicam. We took tons
of pictures - for his story, you may recall - and wanted to take more, but
my battery ran out (ugh)! We were upset at the time, but figured "no
problem, we'll see each other again in April, so we'll take more pictures then".

April came to Boston, and Chris came to Boston, his minifigs also came to
Boston. My camera was working nonstop, we were working nonstop. We created
backdrop settings, took photos of figs and more figs, and more figs... and
more figs. And some more. And... you get the picture. I lost count of how
many times we put pics on my computer in order to reuse the disk, and how
many times we needed to recharge the battery.  Seriously. That many. It was
probably somewhere between 100 and 150 pics. Maybe more.

On Thursday morning, we *finally* finished. Chris posted about his space
stuff (ick!) but he wanted to keep the castle pictures offline until he has
all his bios written out. We planned that, when Chris gets home, I'd ICQ him
the pictures.

BUT... last night, right after Chris called me to say he got home safely, my
computer - a five-year-old piece of junk, just barely running - shot some
sparks out of it, made a loud noise, smoked up, started whirring (it was
off!) and then died. Now it won't turn on at all, it's totally dead.

So there go five years' worth of stuff, including last copies of my mom's
programs, all my ICQ history, lots of pictures and movies, and most
annoyingly... all those pictures that we just took. Ugh! I mean, UGH... how
annoying. And how frustrating...

So, guys, I'm sorry, but it's gonna be a while before you see them all... I
don't know when, my mom is going to try and salvage the computer, and Chris
might borrow a digicam from a friend. Otherwise though, it might be July til
we retake the pictures...

So, I apologize for my computer burning up. Now, I need to get back to
downloading all my programs...

-Shiri

Shiri...
The same thing has happened to me before... sounds like the power supply in
the computer.... I doubt if the HD is gone.... you might be able to take the
HD to your local computer tech and they prob will be able to transfer the
lot over to CD's.... so does this mean you wont be on ICQ for a while?

Kev...: )

(...) If Mr. Bunny is correct, that's not a big repair -- maybe $20-30 USD if you are able to do it yourself or have a friend that can do it for you. Even if the system is fried, you should see what you can salvage: RAM, an extra CD-ROM player (...) (23 years ago, 23-Apr-01, to lugnet.castle.org.cw)
