I've created a design for a walking chariot,
what I call a "Spider-Chariot",

I posted a DAT file for this design
("http://www.lugnet.com/cad/dat/models/?n=1196"),
and I've posted a JPEG of the completed model
("http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/fwcain/items/spider_chariot.jpg").

Please let me know what you think.

Thanks,
Franklin

  hey, folks!

i'm lucky enough to have seen three of these beauties in real life at our
last little DixieLUG get-together.
franlin brought the chariots out in a compacted form with the legs all
folded up around the chariot. it looks so cool! he unfolded the legs one by
one, like a spider itself, wakng up.  though delicate looking, the legs are
plenty strong and and carry the roomy chariot easily.  in the compact folded
position, it sits nicely on it's own, providing the rider with clear, one
step boarding.

the legs are _wonderfully_ pose-able! i had a blast playing with them, and
posing them to snatch passengers from the top compartments of kenny roger's
double decker train!  these vehicles can maneouver uneven surfaces and climb
over things in poses that look like nothing but a spider.

another thing that so impresses me is the absolute "castle-ness" of a
model that seems more like it would be a mecha. i can't quite put my finger
on it, but it may have something to do with the animal-inspired form. jeff
also achieved this castle-ness , but in different ways with his dr.
cornelius construction, which is obviously a machine, made with castle era
parts/ technology.  the spider chariots seem more like majickally animate...
things.

i have been _very_ inspired by these beautiful, and amazingly articulated
models. kudos, franklin! xondra is one lucky evil warlord to have you as a
balladeer!
